Towards Rational Design of Structural Members in Reinforced Concrete

by Yogindra N. Anand, Detroit Edison Co, Detroit, MI, USA,

Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Structural Design, Cementitious Products, and Case Histories

Abstract:

With the increasing emphasis on cookbook designs, plug-in and punch-in formulas, and punch-in numbers in the personal computer program, there is a danger that the designer may accept the results without fully understanding them. The approach presented here permits the designer to adapt it to calculator-aided/computer aided-design with the full understanding of what is being accomplished. Diagrammatic representation for design of several basic members is presented.
