Abstract:

Gannett Fleming recently completed the design of a new Central Maintenance Facility for the Southern California Rapid Transit District. An integral part of this facility is an automated warehouse consisting of an Automated Storage and Retrieval System (AS/RS) and an Automated Guided Vehicle System (AGVS). The following will give you a little better understanding of what these systems are composed of, how they operate, and how they can be applied to a maintenance environment.
