Abstract:

The results of analytical studies of the stability of the slopes of concrete-faced rockfill dams under different levels of earthquake shaking are presented and used to propose desirable slopes for these types of structures. The analytical results are also compared with typical slopes used in past and current practice. Conclusions are drawn concerning desirable slopes for CFR dams in areas of low, moderate and high seismicity.
