Abstract:

There is now an efficient and economical method of using computer technology in a small A/E firm. The recent advances in microcomputer technology have made it possible to take advantage of the right assortment of computer software available to the engineering and architectural industry with a minimal of initial investment. In fact, they need only pay for what they actually use. It will become advantageous to link or network these stand-alone systems so that peripheral equipment and data can be shared. Guidelines and examples of how microcomputers can be successfully utilized will be presented.
