Abstract:

Energy dissipation in tidal waterways is estimated analytically by a harmonic method. Calibration of harmonic parameters is done through numerical simulation. Relations between tidal energy dissipation and macroscopic features of the physical system are obtained. The results are in agreement with the theory of homogeneous turbulence.
