Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Coastal Zone '85

Abstract:

A hydraulic model study was conducted to evaluate the forces exerted on selected floodgates by flowing water as the gates are closed after flooding has begun. The results of the study showed that the dynamic forces caused by the moving water are significant and need to be considered in upgrading the design of the floodgates to enable their closure under these conditions.
