Abstract:

An innovative wastewater management program is described which has been implemented in Orange County, Florida. The wastewater treatment facility utilizes the Bardenpho advanced biological treatment system and allows Orange County to meet AWT effluent limitations at a dramatic cost savings compared to a conventional capital and energy-intensive AWT facility. In addition to a description of the wastewater treatment and disposal facilities, operating data are presented on effluent quality obtained during the first 4 months of treatment facility operation at design conditions. The significance of the high quality effluent achieved to future effluent disposal alternatives is also discussed. (Author abstract. )
