Abstract:

This paper describes, a case study of the evaluation of the structural integrity of a New York State Thruway bridge using the dynamic loading technique. The study was undertaken in a effort to advance the state-of-the-art of the development of an effective bridge-inspection-and-rating program which would establish the priorities of the rehabilitation needed based on quantifiable data base rather than on subjective judgment. Subjects covered include the general concept of the dynamic load test, description of the field test program, interpretation of test results, and others.
