Abstract:

The intensity function, which describes the severity of the flood occurrences, is a critical factor in flood control and reservoir operation. It is found that the occurrence rates of high streamflows in the region appear to have a one-year cycle while a decreasing trend interestingly happens to several stations investigated. A proposed equation works very well in fitting the intensity function.
