Willow Creek Dam--To Be or Not To Be

by Stephen Tatro, US Army Corps of Engineers, Walla, Walla, WA, USA,

Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Water for Resource Development

Abstract:

In Heppner, Oregon, several alternatives for flood control were considered. A concrete gravity dam constructed using roller compaction methods was selected because of the greatly reduced costs of a spillway integrated with the structure and reduced material quantities inherent in concrete dam design. Construction and seepage control are described.
