Abstract:

Long-term dredged material disposal planning for the Upper Mississippi River by the St. Paul District had its beginnings with the Great River Environmental Action Team study (1975-80). The District is now involved in review and implementation of GREAT I-recommended dredged material disposal sites. Interagency coordination and participation, thorough alternative identification, quantitative evaluations, and decision criteria are important elements in successful dredged material disposal planning.
