Abstract: Four semi-empirical procedures for construction of p-y curves in cohesionless soils were developed to fit data from a particular load test or a specific set of tests on similar soils. The relative accuracy of these procedures is studied by applying each to a variety of conditions defined in a data base consisting of full-scale lateral load tests in very loose to very dense cohesionless soils and of piles with several cross-sectional shapes and a range of diameters.
