Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Lifeline Earthquake Engineering: Performance, Design and Construction

Abstract:

A general method for seismic risk analysis of telecommunications sytems evaluates by statistical means the earthquake environment and the earthquake vulnerability and effects on the system under consideration. Methods to assess structural reliability are presented and concepts of cost-optimum design to protect against damages or failures are introduced. Examples of community dial office and equipment support are presented.
