Abstract:

A discussion of important considerations in the development of a computerized Decision Support System (DSS) is presented. These considerations include general hardware and software issues relevant to the design of an effective construction estimating DSS enviroment, including the selection of an appropriate host computer language. Twelve attributes of a quality computer software implementation are proposed and exemplified by the features of an established construction earthmoving estimating package.
