Abstract:

Water resources have been developed by dams and diversion structures and utilized to meet the needs of civilization since ancient times. Today, water resources developments including multiple purpose dam and reservoir projects have attained high levels of accomplishment in countries such as the United States. The papers included in this publication review the status of water resources development in the United States today. Beneficial accomplishments and adverse impacts of multiple purpose dam and reservoir projects are discussed. Other areas covered include evaluation and monitoring of completed projects, global and special accomplishments, and outlooks.
