Abstract:

What can the designer-fabricator team do to improve the overall function of design details? One of the best ways is to begin with team work by bringing the fabricator in on the project at the outset. Since connections are one of the highest unit cost items in a structure, simplification will reduce the cost and generally improve the function of the structure.
