It is shown that the problem of dynamic testing using multiple shaker excitations can be represented by a matrix-eigenvalue formulation. A problem is formulated and an optimal solution is described. The normalized eigenvector corresponding to the maximum eigenvalue provides the direction of excitation for an equivalent single shaker. The corresponding optimal intensity of excitation is expressed in terms of the eigenvalues.
