Mixed Formulation of Finite Strip Method

A least square formation of finite strip method is presented. The method uses a mixed formulation of both stresses and displacements, and minimizes the sum of the square of the residual. The results are compared with the standard finite strip method by displacement model. Two examples illustrate that the method can deal with a wide range of two-dimensional elasto-static problems, and can be easily extended to three dimensional cases. The proposed method is also applicable to other types of boundary value problems.
