Abstract:

An approach is presented to determine the design basis flood for Sanitary Structures and means to protect them. Flood and flood frequency are defined. Principal classes of flood are evaluated to develop design basis flood. The frequency of flood is defined and chosen to establish design basis flood for sanitary structures, considering the life expectancy of such facilities. Flooding due to ice, tunami and other extreme environmental conditions are ignored in developing design criteria against flooding for Sanitary facilities.
