Abstract:

The objectives of the Second ASCE Conference on Civil Engineering and Nuclear Power were to provide an opportunity for North American engineers to keep abreast of current developments relating to the design and construction of nuclear facilities and to bring together in one conference, engineers who are involved in the various facets of design and construction of nuclear facilities for an exchange of information and view points. The proceedings of the conference are arranged by subject into six volumes. The topics and titles are: I) Materials and Structural Design, Including Design and Analysis of Supports for Cable Tray and HVAC Ducts, II) Geotechnical Topics, III) Nuclear Fuel Cycle, IV) Impactive and Impulsive Loads, V) Report by the Committee on Impactive and Impulsive Loads, Nuclear Structures and Materials Committee, (an analysis of nuclear power plant structures for effects of impulse and impact loads), and VI) Design and Analysis of Nuclear Facilities for Earthquake. Many of the papers are illustrated with design charts, diagrams, and maps.
