Abstract:

Sixty-eight papers that comprise the proceedings of the second conference on the dynamic response of structures are included. The structures explored include bridges, tall buildings, dams, liguid storage tanks, reservoirs, cooling towers, and offshore platforms. Structural dynamics are examined for wind loads, earthquake loads, cyclic loads, impact loads, and impulsive loads, with seismic response and earthquake engineering receiving major attention. Also explored are computerized simulation and vibration tests. Deflection, deformation, damping, cracks and failure of structures are reviewed. Paper titles range from Damping of a Floor Sample and Bridge Modal Indentification Response to Earthquake Behavior of One-Story Masonry Homes and Building Response to Tornadoes. The conference was organized by the ASCE Engineering Mechanics Division, and co-sponsored by the National Science Foundation, the Earthquake Engineering Research Institute and other agencies.

Subject Headings: Wind loads | Seismic loads | Impulsive loads | Impact loads | Cyclic loads | Earthquakes | Structural dynamics
