This note considers the nonlinear relation of force-displacement for compression members. The consideration is based on linear treatments for members that have initial curvature or accidental eccentricity, in which the member deformation is assumed to be small and the material is linearly elastic. An example of a doubly braced panel is given to show the effect of nonlinear force-displacement relations of compression members on structures.
