Abstract: What is shown in the present note is that if a system is composed of subsystems that each have the same geometric and constitutive characteristics, and if each subsystem is subjected to the same forcing input, then only one typical subsystem need be analyzed. This fact is well known in structural analysis problems, but not so readily recognized in field problems.
