Solid waste management in educational institution has serious environmental and cost impacts. Many do not have their own disposal system, and therefore must pay a fee to the local government or private agencies for waste handling and disposal. A number of educational institutions face financial problems due to increases in various types of cost and decreases in student enrollments. Recycling or combustion, or both, of the solid wastes may relieve the financial impacts and also solve the environmental problems.
