Abstract:

The Safe Drinking Water Act recently passed by Congress will have a definite impact on water treatment methods and especially on new standards and the monitoring thereof. Many have felt that the environmental emphasis and legislation concerning wastewater and clean streams has overshadowed the problem of safe drinking water. New methods and trends, such as the use of ozone, carbon and chemical flocculants, are considered. The concern over viruses and possible carcinogens is also mentioned along with the ongoing research in these areas.
