Abstract:

Innovative emplovers are re-designing their employee benefits so as not only to keep up their competition, but also as employee-motivation tools that benefit both employee and employer. One firm turns unused sick leave into a vacation, unused vacation into cash. Another has a pension plan with immediate vesting-employer's contribution belongs to the employee from day one. A 4 day work week is in use by a third�gives a 3-day weekend. One company is owned solely by employees�who by purchasing stock can build up a very nice retirement fund.
