Abstract: A closed-form solution technique utilizing a transformation strategy is presented for shallow pipe-medium systems. Mathematical expressions have been developed for pipe-medium interface stresses for a circular pipe under a single center line concentrated load and important parameters affecting the entire system have been studied. The numerical results are presented graphically, for a few cases, to provide quantitative and qualitative information which might help in better understanding soil-structure interaction. Wherever possible, the results are interpreted by comparison with those from other investigations.
