Serial Information: Journal of the Urban Planning and Development Division, 1974, Vol. 100, Issue 2, Pg. 115-154
Document Type: Journal Paper
To commemorate its 50th anniversary, ASCE's Urban Planning and Development Division reviews and documents its record of activity and accomplishment. The objective is to stimulate civil engineers who practice in urban planning and development and to encourage their contributions to present and future activities that benefit the Society as well as the general public. The review begins with a brief account of the origin and purpose of the Society's Technical Divisions, of which the City Planning Division was one of the first. It traces Division's membership growth, the progressive change in committee structure as program objectives were met and new ones sought, and provides a tabulation of the Executive Committee members who contributed the ideas, professional knowledge and leadership which made the Division's accomplishments worth recording. Finally, there is the record itself, consisting of the 500 papers presented at Division-sponsored sessions at the Society's National Meetings.
