Abstract: The interconnecting roles of engineer, architect, insurer, contractor, and owner are recognized. The need is discussed for equitable distribution of risks during the construction phase of a project. Emphasis is placed on underground foundation construction with its consequent difficulties in accurate risk prediction. Organizations developing interdisciplinary solutions to the problem are presented.
