Abstract: The young engineer (and old-timer too) expects to be compensated commensurate with his or her ability to produce. The company, through the supervisor, should be willing to provide the engineer with an adequate measurement of job performance. Along with general guidelines to assure that this is being accomplished, this article provides specific recommendations on defining the job and executing the performance appraisal.
