Document Type: Journal Paper
In the past, ASCE has been involved in legislative matters and on many occasions has been relatively effective, considering the limted time and funds available to the staff at New York Headquarters. Most of its effectiveness stems from personal contacts with ASCE members serving in government, and from leads provided by members and other professional societies. However, it is clear that ASCE must, in the future, become even more involved. The ultimate goal should be to have fulltime Legislative Representation at Washington, D.C., actively supported by a legislative-minded memberhship.
