Abstract: Part I of the paper earlier considered the case of a pipe with 180° concrete bedding. Based on this, the equations for bedding angles less than 180° are developed and an example calculation is presented. Calculation of stresses throughout the base shows, as in the earlier case, that there is no tendency for separation of pipe and bedding. This is confirmed by a photoelastic stress analysis. Moment, thrust, and shear coefficients for use in design are presented for various bedding dimensions.
