Solutions to certain complex problems involved in the location and design of modern freeways in urban and rural areas, by use of aerial surveys and photogrammetry are considered. Procedures used to obtain data for the solution to these problems are given. A comparison of ground control positions determined by analytic aerial triangulation and by second-order field survey procedure relating to existing error tolerance criteria is illustrated and analyzed.
