Abstract: Limit analysis of plates under concentrated load has been considered by several authors. Herein, the limiting values of concentrated load on arbitrarily shaped clamped plates and simply supported circular plates will be determined for the plate materials. A straightforward application of the limit theorems will lead to general expressions for the limit load. The salient features of Zaid's result will also be explored and will be shown to apply to materials other than the Tresca.
