The exact solution corresponding to the steady-state motion of a periodically excited primary system that is provided with a multiple-unit impact damper is derived by treating the motion of this highly nonlinear system as a piece-wise linear process. Results of the analysis are applied to the particular case of a periodically pulse excited impact damper. It is shown that such devices are efficient vibration dampers.
