Abstract:
A stochastic model has been used in a study of sediment transport by the Monte Carlo simulation method. Results include the three-dimensional unsteady sediment distribution that cannot be obtained by conventional techniques, as well as the steady uniform sediment distribution. The diffusion coefficient of sediment is also studied by the simulation method used. Such a method should find its application in a study of the initial, transient, or unsteady mixing pattern of solid wastes released from a point source in a flow field.
