Preloading for Heavy Industrial Installations

Heavy industrial installations for a cement plant were successfully founded on preloaded ground. Project site is covered with recent alluvial formations containing erratic deposits of compressible silts. Reinforced concrete structures were founded on a permanent compacted gravelly fill, 5 meters thick, after the fill had come to rest, Clinker storage with tunnel was founded directly on preloaded ground. Results are presented of borings and laboratory tests, driving records, time settlement curves for preloading, and performance of structures.
