Document Type: Journal Paper
Abstract: American Bar Association Committee on Improvement of Land Title Records has recommended modernization of land records through cooperation of interested governmental and private organizations to assure proper use of EDP equipment, miniaturization of records, orthophotography, photogrammetry, large scale maps, plane coordinates convertible into latitude and longitude, modern equipment to measure distances, increased monumentation of grid points tied into national monumentation system, standard classification codes, and elimination of unnecessary duplication. Land data as to any parcel may be obtained by use of parcel's primary identifier, street adress, or any other commonly used number such as book-plat-lot number. Primary or a secondary identifier for parcels may be coordinates of its approximate center or of a point in center of front line of urban lots. Large scale maps and parcel coordinates will be based on State Plane Coordinate Systems or another acceptable plane coordinate grid convertible into latitude and longitude and tied into national monumentation system.
