Abstract: In a recent paper, the writer developed a functional equation describing the surface spread of a buoyant jet discharged at depth. Experiments were described which gave the actual relationship among the parameters of the equation; the results were plotted to form a congruency diagram and the implications of this diagram were explained with particular reference to hydraulic model design. Due to limitations on the size of apparatus available, the diagram had limited applications. However, since submission of the original manuscript, it has been possible to use a slightly different technique to considerably extend the range of values of the relevant parameters, and a more extensive diagram has been prepared.
