Quarter and fifth scale models were tested of 80- and 100-ft span composite box-girder bridges made of trapezoidal shaped steel girders joined by stud shear connectors to a reinforced concrete deck slab. Observed behavior of the model bridges was in close agreement with behavior predicted by folded plate theory.
