A simplified method of solving cable tensions without use of cable movements or displacements as a parameter is presented. The observations and analysis are centered principally in the solution of the length of curve of the cable under irregular loadings but include also the effect of elastic stretch in arriving at a solution. The application is limited to cables with small sag-to-span ratios, and to loads normal to the chord of the cable.
