Behavior of Small Gas Bubbles in Accelerated Liquid

The time dependent motion of small gas bubbles in liquids subjected to a linear pressure gradient has been studied. An expression for the bubble slip, (ug - ul)/ul was derived as a function of the liquid and gas densities, initial velocities, and the liquid velocity gradient. For air in water, the bubble slip asymptotically approaches zero for uniform flow, independent of initial bubble and liquid velocities, and approaches the value of 0.9967 for highly accelerating flows.
