A membrane theory analysis for shells formed by a hyperboloid of revolution is presented. Static seismic design load and dead load are considered and expressions are derived for both of these loading conditions. The boundary conditions applicable to these stresses and displacements are examined. Charts showing the influence of various shell parameters on the stress resultants and displacements, and tables giving the values of these quantities for a wide range of shell parameters are presented as design aids.
