Abstract: The results of an analytic investigation of the response characteristics of flexible beams and combinations of beams subjected to liquid loads are described. An important dimensionless parameter is defined which becomes the significant variable to such problems. The effects of camber and sloped surfaces on the response is evaluated. The AISC criterion for rainwater ponding is examined critically and is shown to be incomplete. All results are presented to the form of graphs. A suggested design procedure is described.
