Abstract: When the resultant of the external forces falls outside the kern in eccentrically loaded foundation, it becomes a tedious task to locate the stress block and to establish the maximum soil pressure of an irregular shaped base. A table and nomogram are presented to simplify this work for trapezoidal and circular shaped footings.
