Abstract: Safe roadways can be constructed in an aesthetic environment. Special attention, through engineering judgment, must be given to the location, design, and construction of the facility, as well as to those appurtenances added to it. Safe roadsides, proper use of guardrail, proper placement of signs and design of their support, along with separate roadways and preservation of natural beauty and added plantings can be compatible with safe operation.
