Abstract: Simply supported prismatic shells with intermediate columns located along longitudinal edges are analyzed. The shell is assumed to be simply supported along the two transverse edges and the intermediate column supports are taken as uniform line loads throughout the longitudinal width of the columns. The magnitude of the column reactions is determined by flexibility influence coefficients assuming that the vertical displacements of the shell at the column supports are zero. A comparison of the magnitude and distribution of the stress resultants and displacements of simply supported prismatic shells with two and four equally spaced intermediate columns resulting from dead load or uniform live load with the results obtained for a shell without intermediate columns is given.
