Abstract: The fundamental principles underlying several simplified theories for prismatic folded plates (ignoring torsional moments, longitudinal bending moments, and shear deformations) are examined, and the close relationships existing among them are demonstrated. The theories are classified into groups, and in the process three new methods of analysis are developed.
