Document Type: Journal Paper

Experiments performed to investigate the validity of a stochastic model for predicting the subsidence of a granular medium are reported. The experiments consisted of measuring the subsidence between two parallel plates of glass caused by media escaping through an opening at the lower edge of the plates. The media used were sand and glass spheres.
