Using uncoupled thermoelastic theories, the plane and bending deformations of infinite plates subjected to moving and stationary heat sources are investigated. It is shown that when heat losses from the faces of the plate are negligible, the stress resultants and couples are expressible in closed form in terms of well-known functions. Also, the unsatisfactory nature of the only existing solution to the problems of deformations of elastic plates by moving heat sources is noted.
